The resort is located on the shores of Coconut Beach, on Cape Tribulation, some 150 km (90 m) north of Cairns; 30 km (20m) north of the Daintree River. On one side is the "Wet Tropics" World Heritage Rainforest - the oldest rainforest in the world, on the other side is the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef. The only place in the world where two World Heritage areas meet, and we are the only rainforest based Resort in Queensland with our own private beach - all in all, a truly special place for you to enjoy!

Restaurants and Bars

The Long House features the Long House Restaurant, adjacent to the fish and turtle pond, and is renowned for well presented, well prepared and delicious food, open for buffet lunches and a la carte dinners. The adjacent Pandanus Bar lets you relax with the cocktail of your choice and boasts an extensive wine list at sensible prices. After dinner, enjoy port or liqueur and coffee in the Loft Bar, a wonderful place to admire views across the rainforest and the Coral Sea.

Less formal is the restaurant in the Round House, open for breakfasts and a la carte lunches. The Round House Bar is open all day for the convenience of guests relaxing around the Cascade Pool.

Accommodation

The Resort offers two styles of accommodation for you to select from. We have 27 Hillside Cabins, and have recently added a further 40 free standing Villas. The cabins can accommodate up to five, and the Villas can accommodate up to 4.

All rooms have mini bars, ceiling fans, hair dryer, an iron and ironing board, clock radio, and coffee/tea making facilities. The rooms also have their own private balcony/verandahs for your relaxation. You can choose between rooms with a queen size bed or a room with two twin beds.

40 new individual freestanding villas providing luxury accommodation right in the rainforest. Each villa has one Queen or twin beds with a double divan. Optimum capacity is double or twin, with third adult utilizing the divan, or two children on the divan.

Authentic Australian design has enabled the creation of vast open plan pole framed buildings, set around the trees of the forest. They are structures designed for comfort in a tropical environment and handcrafted to the last detail from a multitude of unique timbers. The resort is ideal for families, nature, incentive and special interest groups and conference groups seeking a unique "get away from it all" setting.

Please note that we do not offer televisions or telephones in the guest rooms, as we feel they would intrude. A television is available in the Round House, and there is a business centre at reception with credit card operable telephones and a fax machine in comfortable private surroundings.

Guest Services

The Round House is the guest's retreat. Disguised by fan palms, ferns and vines and featuring a library with a range of books and videos on the rainforest and the reef its a wonderful place to relax. Or perhaps enjoy a swim in the cool swimming pool with spa.
The Long House, overlooking beautiful Coconut Beach, features the Restaurant, Bars, Resort Store, large swimming pool and a fish pond with a variety of native fish and turtles.

For the active, there is a multitude of tours and activities available ranging from Horseriding, Four Wheel Drive Safaris, River or Great Barrier Reef Cruises, an Eco Kayaking trek, swimming, snorkelling, fishing and lots more. Two free form rock swimming pools are available, plus a spa.

Our complimentary guided rainforest walks are very popular, offering both day and evening walks, allowing you to appreciate the enormously rich diversity of flora and fauna in the rainforest.
